Day After Session: Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

You should think of doing a day after session. We highly recommend them. Did you opt out of having a first look or maybe you didn’t have enough time to get all the romantic images you dreamed of on your wedding day? A big trend in the wedding industry is a day after session.

What is a day after session? It is exactly what it sounds like.  The next day you get that dress and wedding attire back on and go out for a few hours to take lots of fun romantic pictures of just you and your significant other!  Don’t worry your hair will still look great!

Why would you do this?

Well, sometimes on your wedding day, you don’t want or have time to do a long photo session or you want to mingle and party with your family and friends.  Also, perhaps you didn’t have a first look and you couldn’t cram in all your romantic pictures within 20 minutes during your cocktail hour. You might think you would have the full hour but guess again. Your photographer needs to set up their lights. You then need to photograph your family formals. Most of the time, one of your family members will be missing and we will have to send a search party.  Your ring bearer is now having a meltdown and before you know it we have 30 minutes left and you still want your photographer to get all the table settings and decor shots before the guest are invited in.

We are not going to lie. This part of the day is going to be a little stressful. So what should you do? That’s right, a day after session! Enjoy your wedding.  Of course, get some romantics, but don’t stress out over them. The next day you can relax and have fun with your husband or wife.  Go on an adventure with your photographer and get epic romantic shots!

Where should you do your day after session? This is the best part. Anywhere!  You get to pick!

Ilana and Austin

We photographed a wedding in Denver recently (pictures below. You MUST see) and the bride and groom were awesome and opted to do a day after session.  We took them to Rocky Mountain National Park. It was super fun, albeit a bit chilly and super windy at the top. They brought along some of their out of town family and we all got to go on a journey together!

Okay, so maybe you don’t live in Colorado and the Rocky Mountains aren’t an option for you.  What national park is near you?  Maybe you are in a city like New York, but you got married on Long Island, in a vineyard like Alyssa and Chris.  Now, you can go out with your photographer to the Brooklyn bridge and get a totally different landscape for your images. Seriously, there are so many options, the sky is the limit.

We hope this blog gave you some insight to why we recommend a day after session. If you are one of our clients, you are getting married soon, or even a photographer who needs help with ideas for a day after session location, feel free to ask us here . We would love to chat with you.
