Top 16 Engagement Photo Locations in Miami

Looking for an engagement session in Miami? Need some guidance on choosing a venue for the photo shoot? Here are some of the locations we love and suggest to our couples. But before we begin listing the locations, let us tell you a little something about Miami.

This city is famous for its beautiful weather, gorgeous beaches, lively music scene, and some of the best Cuban coffee you have ever had! If you are looking for parks, beaches, cityscapes and skylines, museums, or sites of historical significance, Miami offers it all. It is the third most populous metropolis on the east coast of the United States, and it is the seventh-largest in the country. You can plan your session here and get the best engagement photos ever!

Historical Locations for Engagement Sessions

1. Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

Vizcaya is one of our favorite locations. It is an extensive estate in south Miami with Italian renaissance gardens, a woodland landscape, and a historic village outbuildings compound. It was built in 1916, and several famous artists were invited to create works for the site. It’s an excellent location for an engagement shoot, and if you want to get yours done here, you can get a daytime photo permit for this location.

2. Ancient Spanish Monastery

The Ancient Spanish Monastery is a heritage site in north Florida. It was completed in 1141 A.D. and has changed ownership many times over the years. An enclave of European architecture, the Monastery was originally built in Sacramenia, a municipality of Segovia in northern Spain. It was dedicated to the Blessed Mother earlier and originally named ‘The Monastery of Our Lady, Queen of the Angels’. But in 1174, upon the canonization of Bernard of Clairvaux, one of the most influential church leaders of his time, the Monastery was renamed in his honor.

Today, the Gardens and Chapel of the Spanish Monastery offer a traditional setup for weddings and other celebrations. The Monastery remains closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. It’s also important to note that these days, due to COVID-19, it’s only allowing tourists and photo shoots for limited hours.

3. Biltmore

Though the Biltmore in Coral Gables is a hotel and resort, it qualifies to be included in this section because it’s historic and iconic. It was built in 1926 by a young developer named George Merrick and wasn’t always a hotel. It was used as a hospital during World War II and has several mysteries attached to it. But after Biltmore was converted into a hotel, this historic venue became synonymous with luxury.

You can get everything here – lavish dining, great rooms, a spa, and a golf course. The possibilities of finding fantastic backgrounds for your engagement shoot are endless in Biltmore. If you want to get your engagement photography done here, you will need to obtain a photo permit.

4. Del Prado Entrance

Registered in the National Register of Historic Places, the Del Prado Entrance in Coral Gables of Miami is one beautiful location for engagement photography. It has always been a hotspot for photographers and wedding photography. Covered by wood trellises, the two walkways provide interesting details to the arches. The entrance structure is located on a center parkway and is full of lush greenery.

Beach & Park Engagement Locations

1. Key Biscayne

Located on a barrier island in Florida and connected to Miami via the Rickenbacker Causeway, Key Biscayne is a town between two large parks – the Crandon Park and the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. Both these parks run along sheltered beaches, mangroves, and tropical forests inhabited by birds, butterflies, and loggerhead turtles. You can use the town or any of the parks for your engagement session and get amazing images with your partner. The Bill Baggs Cape Florida Park is also home to the 19th century Cape Florida Lighthouse.

2. Cape Florida Light

If you plan to get your engagement photography done with the Cape Florida Lighthouse in the background, you will be able to experience it all – a park, a beach, and history. This lighthouse was constructed in 1825 and has a museum installed in a replica of its keeper’s quarters, giving tourists and other visitors a sense of Florida’s maritime history. It is located on Cape Florida at the south-end of Key Biscayne in Miami-Dade County.

3. South Pointe Park

The South Pointe Park is located at the southernmost point of Miami Beach. It is an urban county park with amenities such as a restaurant, a kids’ area, outdoor showers, and a dog park. So if you want to bring your furry friends along for your engagement session, you can choose this park. It has a beautiful green space and panoramic views to enjoy. With several breathtaking backgrounds, you can undoubtedly get some great photos here.

4. Matheson Hammock Park in Coral Gables

Spread over hundreds of acres, the Matheson Hammock Park in Coral Gables is an amazing urban park. It surrounds the north and western ends of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. You can enjoy a delicious meal, sit by the human-made ‘atoll pool’, go kayaking or do some bird watching here.

5. Maurice A. Ferré Park

The Maurice A. Ferré Park, formerly known as the Museum Park, is located in Downtown Miami. It is an urban park with the longest waterfront baywalk you will find in Miami. This can prove to be a picture-perfect spot for engagement photography. If you are interested in visiting some museums after the shoot, Maurice Park provides pedestrian access to many of them. Now you know why it was called the Museum Park previously! Also, if you want to go shopping, the Bayside Marketplace is nearby.

6. Historic Virginia Key Beach

The Virginia Key Beach in Miami is an excellent location for engagement photo shoots. You can get amazing pictures, have fun, enjoy meals and relax at the Virginia Key. Another fun thing the Virginia Key offers is the Miami Seaquarium, a marine park that has one of the world’s largest collections of marine animals. So on the day of your engagement session, you can come prepared for the shoot and the seaquarium!

7. Tree Tops Park

If you plan for a barbeque party in the wilderness with your partner, choose Tree Tops Park. It’s located on 3900 SW 100th Ave, Davie, and is a great location to enjoy nature and have lots of fun. Maybe you can get photographed while having fun with your love and make your engagement photos even more enjoyable. You can go horseback riding, boating, fishing, and even observe the wildlife at this green marshland park.

8. Greynolds Park

The Greynolds is a huge park managed by the Miami-Dade County Parks. It is the second oldest park in the county and was designated as a historic site in 1983. If you choose to get photographed here for your engagement session, you are bound to find some beautiful backdrops for your photos. Nature and bike trails, lakes, picnic shelters, and a public nine-hole golf course are also available for Greynolds Park visitors. After the shoot, you can engage in birdwatching, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, or nature tours with your partner and spend the rest of your day soaking in the romance in your relationship.

9. Miami Beach Botanical Garden

You can select the Miami Beach Botanical Garden as your engagement photography spot if you want to be somewhere calm and serene. The Miami Beach Botanical Garden has a welcoming entrance plaza, a wetland with red mangroves, and pond apple trees. It has a water garden, an extensive collection of flowering trees, palms, orchids, and some native species of Florida. It is a beautiful location where you can expect to get some impressive results. Another perk of choosing this location is the Botanical Boutique, where you can find some pretty flora and fauna-inspired gifts for your partner.

10. Enchanted Forest Park

Nature trails, a beautiful forest, a farm, a butterfly garden, and plenty of open green space is how we can describe the Enchanted Forest Park in Miami. This lush green park along a creek also offers pony rides, jogging trails, and picnic areas. If that’s what you are looking for, choose Enchanted Forest Park for your engagement session and celebrate your love in the lap of nature.

11. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden

The Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is in Coral Gables, Miami-Dade County, and is surrounded by the Matheson Hammock Park in the north and the west. If you are a biodiversity fan, then this garden can be your paradise. It has a museum, a lab, a learning center, and a conservation research facility to preserve biodiversity.
